Tiling All Open Windows.
Most Windows programs have a "tile" command under the Window menu that automatically arranges all open windows side-by-side. Windows 95 has a similar command for arranging windows in all open applications.
To use it, right click on any blank area of the "Taskbar" (the horizontal strip runing across the bottom of the screen). The pop-up menu contains two tile options: "Tile Horizontally," which stretches each window the full width of the screen and stacks them one on top of the other; and "Tile Vertically," which stretches the windows vertically and arranges them side-by-side across the screen.
CUSTOMIZING THE "SEND TO" LIST.
Windows 95’s "Send To" command provides a quick method for moving files to specified locations in your system, such as e-mail recipients and your system’s floppy disk drive. To use it, right click on the file to be sent, choose the "Send To" command from the pop-up menu and select the desired destination from the list that appears.
To add a destination to this list, place a shortcut for the destination in the "Send To" folder inside your system’s Windows folder. To delete or rename existing "Send To" items, delete or rename their icons in this folder.
CREATING A SCREEN CAPTURE.
Here is how you can create a quick screen capture with Windows 95 --
- Set up the screen you want to capture. Be sure to pull down any menus or open any dialogue boxes you want to show.
- Press the "Print Screen" button to take a picture of your entire computer screen; or hold the "Alt" key while pressing "Print Screen" to capture only the active window. The image will be placed in your system’s Clipboard.
- Save the image in a file as follows:
- Create a new bitmap document by pressing the right mouse button while pointing to any empty area on the desktop.
- Choose "New: from the menu that appears, and select "Bitmap Image."
- Open the Paint document that is created and choose "Paste" from the "Edit" menu (or type Control + V).
