This class is for Adobe Illustrator users who want to refine their use of the program and learn about some of its more advanced features. Class discussion and exercises cover --
The nature of points and paths, what a compound path is, when it should be used and how to create one,
Techniques for precise positioning and alignment of objects in Illustrator,
The use of Illustrator's built-in patterns, how to load and use other pre-created patterns, modification of existing patterns and how to create a new pattern from scratch,
Use of Illustrator's autotracing capabilities,
How to blend objects, both to create intermediate objects and produce special effects,
What masks are, and how to create and use them,
How to use the Pathfinder commands to combine and modify shapes,
Options for selecting objects based on their stroke and fill characteristics,
Linking Illustrator text blocks and wrapping text around elements in Illustrator.

PREREQUISITES

Working knowledge of fundamental Illustrator features, including creation of basic shapes, assignment of fill and stroke attributes, importing Pantone colors, working with points and paths, use of Bezier curves to control line shapes, layers, basic type formats, and basic charting.
